Catedr\u00e1tica) en el Departamento de Ciencia Pol\u00edtica y Relaciones Internacionales de la Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid (UAM)<\/strong>\u00a0y Directora del Instituto Universitario de Derecho y Administraci\u00f3n Local IDGL-UAM. Desde 2023 me desempe\u00f1o tambi\u00e9n como directora del Research Council 05 sobre Estudios Comparados en Gobierno y Pol\u00edtica Local de la Asociaci\u00f3n Internacional de Ciencia Pol\u00edtica (IPSA).<\/div>\n

Mi investigaci\u00f3n se desarrolla principalmente en el marco de redes internacionales dedicadas al estudio de las democracias locales, donde analizo la realidad espa\u00f1ola y europea desde un enfoque comparado. He participado en numerosas iniciativas internacionales de investigaci\u00f3n financiadas por diversas instituciones,\u00a0como The European Mayor Project,\u00a0International Metropolitan Observatory,\u00a0Municipal Assemblies in European Local Governments, Second Tier of Local Government in Europe, Local Sector Reforms: An International Comparison\u00a0y\u00a0Patterns of Local Autonomy in Europe (LAI).<\/div>\n

Cuento con cuatro\u00a0sexenios de investigaci\u00f3n y con un sexenio de transferencia. He publicado los resultados de mis investigaciones en revistas de primer nivel como International\u00a0Public Administration Review, Review of Administrative Sciences, European Political Science, Local Government Studies, Urban Research and Practice, International Journal of Public Sector Management, Revista Espa\u00f1ola de Ciencia Pol\u00edtica, y Gesti\u00f3n y An\u00e1lisis de Pol\u00edticas P\u00fablicas, as\u00ed como en prestigiosas editoriales nacionales e internacionales\u00a0como Palgrave MacMillan, Peter Lang, Routledge, Springer VS, Edward Elgar, Tirant lo Blanc o Tecnos.<\/div>\n

He participado en m\u00e1s de 20 proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n financiados por convocatorias competitivas nacionales y europeas de los cu\u00e1les he sido Investigadora Principal en 9 de ellos. Entre ellos destaca mi papel como Investigadora Principal en dos proyectos financiados por el Plan Nacional de I+D+i \u2013 \u201cUna nueva arquitectura local: eficiencia, dimensi\u00f3n y democracia\u201d (2014-2017) y \u201cPol\u00edticas y Servicios P\u00fablicos contra la Despoblaci\u00f3n\u201d (2020-2023). Tambi\u00e9n he sido coordinadora en Espa\u00f1a de un proyecto europeo de investigaci\u00f3n financiado por la convocatoria MSCA-RISE de Horizonte 2020:\u00a0Local Government and the Urban Rural Interplay\u00a0(2019-2024). En la actualidad, soy co-IP del proyecto \u201cCapacidad institucional para la absorci\u00f3n de fondos europeos a nivel local: barreras y facilitadores\u201d\u00a0(CAFELocal) de la convocatoria Generaci\u00f3n de Conocimiento, Ministerio de Ciencia (2025-2028).<\/div>\n

I am an Associate Professor of Political Science in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), and Director of the University Institute of Law and Local Government (IDGL-UAM). Since 2023, I have also served as Chair of Research Committee 05 on Comparative Studies in Local Government and Politics of the International Political Science Association (IPSA).<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

My research takes place mainly within international networks dedicated to the study of local democracies, where I analyse Spanish and European realities from a comparative perspective. I have participated in more than 20 research projects funded through national and European competitive calls, serving as Principal Investigator in 10 of them.
